Participation, Not Just Presentation

There is a very insightful article by Jodi Adams that was recently posted at Faith Visuals on evaluating how we use media to draw others into God's redemptive story. Participation, Not Just Presentation draws on two categories of our worship experience, presentation and participation. She notes that, "communion is participation; media is presentation." Here are some excerpts:

Media pioneer William Bernbach was once quoted as saying, "In this very real world, good doesn't drive out evil. Evil doesn't drive out good. But the energetic displaces the passive."

Videos and images can provide windows into common human experiences.

Media has the great potential to move worship from passive personal experience into energetic community participation.

Our Brilliant Family

Jack hasn't quite grasped the concept that it has to actually be snowing to catch snowflakes on his tongue...

I'm excited to start blogging. I feel so hip & with-it, Daddy-O. It will be fun to update everyone with the details of our loony lives.

So, here's the first status report:
Matt's teaching and working at Sun.
Casi's writing this blog and preparing for Grad School this summer!!! WooHoo!
Reed is progressing at MSVH and will start going to church with us this Sunday!
As for Jack...refer to above picture. :0)
As for the pets: Tinky still stinks and Kitty won't stop sleeping on my head.
So, stay tuned for the next thrilling installment of, "The Preheims: To nap or not to nap...and play James Bond, instead."

What can I say

My family in Colorado is never without a dull moment. From the time I wake up to the time I go to bed, I never know what to expect. The sky is the limit and somehow we actually reach it on occassion. I am not complaining and I will not try to change the way things are (at least not on purpose) because this whole situation is somewhat entertaining. Keep it up Fruit of the Loons. Love Papa

Need I say more?

I was talking with my very talented and creative daughter Casi. Told her it would be fun to blog. So she volunteered to create a blog for our whole family and this is what we got. Although, I have to admit, this is one of the better family photo's taken in quite a while!

Well, we're just getting started with this business of blogging, but I'm sure there will be alot more from all of us soon! Stay tuned....

Ooops!

There had to be an oops moment on my first try ;>)
